About Black Iron
From a young age I have always had an interest in metalwork. I do not know were this interest stemmed from but I have always felt compelled by the stories that surrounded metalwork; tales of people able to fashion simple ore into majestic jewellery or mighty weapons with only hammers and flame. My first taste of actual metalwork was a short lesson with a local blacksmith called Melissa Cole, during which she taught me how to make an S hook (as shown in the bespoke products section). Since then I went on to be mentored by a blacksmith known as Spike and I am currently being mentored by David Harland; both encouraged me to set up my own forge.
The logo/name of my business came to me during a screen printing course hosted by Walden arts studio in Cardigan where I used the words as a cool part of my design, then realized the whole thing was an excellent logo.
